The Surprising Power of a Good Dumpling
The Surprising Power of a Good Dumpling describes the life of a year 11 student, Anna, whose mother suffers from delusions. Anna must take the lead and push through the hard times with the help of her siblings Lily and Michael, and her friend Rory. This book has lots of emotion and has been written with lots of love. Anna’s busy life has its ups and downs, but is brought together with a resilient family and a genuine love for food. This novel can also be described as a coming of age story as Anna gains experience and a deeper understanding of where her life is headed throughout the story. Overall, a very heartfelt book with lots of twists and turns that come together in the end. A book of the family genre, I would recommend it all YA readers.
